produced by The Independent fr Sony Ericsson Introducing the Sony Ercisson W910i: a great looking mobile AND an advanced music player

It may look like a stylish, slim fashion phone with a sleek slide action and highresolution screen, but there’s a lot going on in the Sony Ericsson W910i.

At the very least, it’s a sophisticated music phone with lots of ways to keep the beat going. The W910i contains the latest Walkman® music player system, Walkman Player 3.0, which means you can transfer MP3 or other format music tracks with ease from computer to phone using MediaManager software.

To activate the Walkman music player, you press just one button and because the phone has a motion sensor, you can change the track you’re playing or shuffle the entire playlist simply by shaking the handset, thanks to ShakeControl. This is especially handy if you’re jogging.

And if you know you want a happy, bouncy song but can’t decide which one, SenseMe™ will help. It’s a new way of listening to music that analyses tracks according to their tempo and style. It decides whether a track is happy or sad, slow or fast and places a marker on a grid accordingly. Place the cursor where your mood leads you and an appropriate track will start playing. It’s also a quick way to find out if your music library is mostly slow dirges or speedy pop tunes.

If you can’t find anything in the music you’ve saved to the phone’s memory card, there’s a sophisticated FM radio on board, this has RDS, meaning you can see what station you’re tuned to. And if you hear a song playing when you’re out but you don’t know what it is, TrackID™ can save the day. Hold the phone to the nearest speaker and TrackID™ checks it against a database and sends you an instant text message with the song, artist and album information. And because the phone has stereo Bluetooth (the short-wave radio connection), you can leave it safely in your pocket or bag and listen to it wirelessly.

Although the W910i is primarily an outstanding music phone, it also has an excellent two-megapixel camera. And because it’s a 3G phone, there’s a forward-facing camera that enables you to make video calls. The menu system is pretty cool, too, and matches the Sony PlayStation 3.

Then there’s the AutoRotate function, which means the phone knows whether you’re holding it upright or on its side. The menus automatically switch round to the appropriate orientation, and some of the homescreen animations do this too.

Last but not least, the Sony Ericsson W910i has high-speed access for speedy internet surfing and offers a great gaming experience to boot, making it a superb all-round entertainer.
