produced by The Independent fr Sony Ericsson Introducxing the Sony Ericsson K850I: one of the most advanced camera phones yet

Are you trying to cram a mobile phone, digital camera, MP3 player and portable radio into your trouser pockets or handbag? That’s a lot to lug around, but the Sony Ericsson K850i makes life easy because it’s all these things – and more – in one.

Quite simply, the Sony Ericsson K850i is one of the most advanced camera phones yet. It has an exceptionally highresolution (five megapixels) camera, a bright Xenon flash and autofocus (most camera phones only have fixed focus).

Some of its functions, such as PhotoFix and BestPic™, are unique to Sony Ericsson. PhotoFix is a photo editing system that enables you to simply and quickly change a shot you’ve just taken by improving the contrast and brightness. It’s almost instant and can salvage images that you would otherwise discard.

Even neater is BestPic™,which takes nine shots in less than a second, so you can choose the best one. Once you’ve selected BestPic™, the camera starts shooting, even before you’ve pressed the trigger, saving the shot you take plus four before and four after. However fast the action is, you should be able to capture it with the K850i, making it ideal for sports, whale watching and so on.

The K850i has another feature usually only found on advanced digital cameras – an image stabiliser. This means that if your hands are a little shaky, the photo or video you’re shooting won’t be. You can even upload images you’ve taken to Blogger.com, publishing them online in seconds.

The K850i also has a strikingly different way of operating, thanks to its touch-sensitive softkeys. Three white dots respond to gentle finger presses when you want to access the menus, so the phone has extra functionality without adding bulk. Even more space is saved by squeezing the direction control into the keypad.

There are other funky features on the K850i, such Auto Rotate. This means the handset knows if it’s upright or on its side and reformats the menus and photos accordingly. The K850i also has an MP3 Player, excellent stereo FM radio and can even make video calls.

Then there’s TrackID™. If you hear a piece of music and want to know what it is, simply hold the phone to the nearest speaker and TrackID™ will record it and send you a text detailing the track, artist and album. How clever’s that?

There are plenty more functions squeezed into the K850i, so you need never feel overburdened again.
