Falling for the K850i

Best-known for his show Trigger Happy TV, comedian Dom Joly has had a snap-happy week. Photography and words by Dom Joly

I love having a camera on me but, sadly, I also love my mobile, laptop, MP3 player… Soon I’ll become one huge walking, bleeping gadget but, until then, my K850i means I no longer need to carry a separate camera and mobile. It’s easy to use and the quality of the pictures is brilliant for a camera phone – it’s great just to be able to snap anything I see on my wanderings. I sat behind Princess Anne on the train yesterday and wanted to get a picture of her but her security team wasn’t quite so keen, so I had to settle for family snaps, but I’ll get her next time, don’t you worry.(click thumbnail to view enlarged image)

Extraordinary People: David Phelan

The 5-megapixel Sony Ericsson K850i camera
phone boasts functions that make it cutting
edge. These include Photo fix, which improves
dark shots, and BestPic, which saves the shot
when you press the trigger, plus four shots
before you press it and four after. The xenon
flash is significantly brighter than most camera
phone’s and there are even scene modes, just
like on a conventional digital camera, where
you can optimise images with settings such as
Twilight, Landscape, Sports and so on. There’s
also a setting for photographing documents
and you can record videos to boot.

The K850i is available now at O2 stores or online
at www.o2.co.uk

Right: My house in the Cotswolds got wiped out in the August floods. Got the insurance cheque so went shopping. Bought this for the garden

Left: Playing at being Bill Oddie in my courtyard. I spot… a lesser-spotted moron
Right: My son, Jackson, insisted that his favourite Power Ranger toy be included in this pictorial story of my week

Left: My daughter, Parker, enjoyed being buried in the autumn leaves in our garden
Right: No PlayStations in our household – it’s leaf jumping all day or you won't get any supper.
