Falling for the K850i

A week in the life of Blur member-turned-farmer Alex James. Photography and words by Alex James

Another week, another leek. It’s been a busy time for the artichokes. They came out in the name of drainage but now they are back like Dave. The county show was cancelled because of foot-and-mouth disease, so the sheep are having a rest from show business for now and didn’t want to be photographed here. Excitement builds for The Empress, our Gloucester OldSpot. She’s ready to start breeding and you can see she’s frothing at the mouth. The chickens haven’t laid any eggs yet but we’re all quite excited about that happening. I’m hoping to get the new garden finished in time for the 2012 Olympics. I’ll be entering my cardoons

Extraordinary People: David Phelan

The 5-megapixel Sony Ericsson K850i camera
phone boasts functions that make it cutting
edge. These include Photo fix, which improves
dark shots, and BestPic, which saves the shot
when you press the trigger, plus four shots
before you press it and four after. The xenon
flash is significantly brighter than most camera
phone’s and there are even scene modes, just
like on a conventional digital camera, where
you can optimise images with settings such as
Twilight, Landscape, Sports and so on. There’s
also a setting for photographing documents
and you can record videos to boot.

The K850i is available now at O2 stores or online
at www.o2.co.uk
